Pukerua Bay

Share
Meanwhile, back in Wellington...

The brief for my design paper is to design a beach house for a specific site out at Pukerua Bay. A class site visit has been organised for tomorrow (Monday), but I decided to go this weekend so that I can go to class tomorrow instead and get some feedback from my tutor.

Fortunately the weather was pretty good - unfortunately, buses were replacing trains that day, and once I got to Pukerua Bay I couldn't figure out where I was on the map! But fate intervened, luckily for me; one of my friends from the course had also decided to visit on Saturday, and recognised me (looking lost) from her car. She and her family rescued me and dropped me off at the correct site. Phew!

Glare-y view to the north: Kapiti Island

The site itself was very pleasant. There was a prominent north-west wind, but it was pretty mild that day. Still, you could see how stormy it could get from all the driftwood washed up on the shore. I took a few photos and wandered around for a while, trying to get a feel for the site and what approach I could take with my concept. Then it was time to go -  Emma kindly dropped me back off in town (her mum was using the opportunity as a motorway driving lesson for her and her brother).

All in all, it was a nice change from working in the studio or at home!
