Anglesey

Share
Anglesey is the name of the large island which forms the NW tip of Wales, and is also where we are currently staying.  It almost seems to be part of the mainland, but is separated by a channel called the Menai Straits.  Today we drove out to the western tip where we got a great view out from the lighthouse at "South Stack" towards Ireland, although the stiff breeze was very cold.

We drove back to the east side of Anglesey to visit the castle at Beaumaris, facing across the narrow channel to the Welsh mainland.  Construction occurred over about 30 years around 1300 AD after King Edward I conquered North Wales, but the castle was never actually completed.

All sort of hazards!

Inside the castle walls is a beautiful lawn!
