The Faberge eggs were manufactured in Russia by the House of Faberge during about 30 years starting in 1885, and were famously known as easter gifts from the Tsar to members of his family. There are nine Faberge eggs displayed in the St Petersburg Faberge Museum, of a total of about 57 known in the world. Those nine eggs plus a collection of other Faberge objects were purchased for $100 million USD by the collector who set up this museum, quite recently. It is now a popular attraction in the city.
