El Torcal is a national park high on the hills behind Antequera, set aside because of the striking limestone formations. The name "Torcal" comes from "tor" meaning tower and "cal" for limestone. It was sunny but very cold up there, about 3 C when we got out of the car, so we bundled up and set out at a brisk walk to try and generate some body heat! It is a little like New Zealand's Punakaiki (?) rocks, but on top of a mountain. It provided a nice contrast with the other places we have visited on this trip.
