Malaga is a large seaside city, which today was thronged with Spaniards celebrating Constitution Day. All the shops were shut, but many cafes and restaurants were full of people eating out. We had lunch with Gary at a little cafe on the edge of the beach where they barbeque the fish over embers in a small wooden boat mounted on a stand, which serves as the barbeque! It's a local tradition, apparently. The fish was delicious.

The Alcazar is the old Moorish fortress which winds up the hill from the city. It has gardens and water features, including little channels which run down the centre of the path in many places and follow complicated routes through pools and fountains. From the Alcazar you can see out over the harbour, which has been an important shipping harbour for centuries.
