The Floating Icecream Man

Share
Today was a real treat, motoring around the edge of the Mediterranean Sea from one ancient site to another.  We stopped for swims in various coves, and were fed a delicious lunch on board by the master's wife.  The weather was fine and warm.

Boarding in Teimiussa
It was a very comfortably-sized vessel for our 11-strong group, plenty of room to sit inside or out, or up on top under the canopy.

Happy Birthday Fatih
It was Fatih's birthday today (29) and he said he wanted a car, so we bought him one.  We were told we would be swimming with sea turtles, which turned out to be a slight exaggeration.  We did eventually spot quite a number from the boat over the day, but they were quite keen to stay well away from us and the boat.

Fatih told us backgammon is Turkey's national game.  He and the captain sat down during the breaks and played at high speed.

Halfway through the day we passed this guy, sitting out in the ocean in his runabout complete with a chest-freezer full of icecreams.  He hailed us as we went by, and when we stopped soon after came over and sold us Magnums and Cornettos.  Top marks for initiative!

Relaxing on the top deck in the breeze
It was a very pleasant day, including the delicious home-cooked lunch we were served.  We reclined on our cushions watching the 2,000 year-old ruins slide by.  Back on the road tomorrow!  There will be no more two-night stops for us until we are back in Istanbul.
