Kalekoy

Share
Kalekoy is a tiny village we stopped at during our day on the water near Kas.  As overland access is very difficult it is accessed solely by water, and is a popular stop for boats cruising in those waters.

Approaching Kalekoy.

There a no roads here.
You can buy an entry ticket and walk up through the village to the fort on the hilltop above.  On the way we passed through the school, which has a roll of eight.

Sue and some tubby chap.
It was a short, hot, steep climb up to the fort, rewarded by a 360-degree view of the area.  The hillside beside the village is dotted with Lycean sarcophagii (below), of which there are hundreds to be seen throughout this part of Turkey including in the middle of cities such as Kas.  They are typically about 2,500 years old.
