The Grand Bazaar

Share
It seems compulsory to go to the Grand Bazaar if you visit Istanbul, so today we walked through it.  It is roofed over and contains hundreds of little shops, very colourful and selling most things you can think of.

Sue bought some "evil eye" ornaments.
The nearby Spice Market is smaller, and similar, but with more spices on sale from open bins, which fill the air with heady aromas.  The markets and the surrounding little streets are very busy, and it must be very competitive for the sellers, but we found them not too aggressive.  As you walk down the street you hear "Excuse me!" a lot, and if you respond the next question is typically "Where are you from?".
