Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall was built by the Romans about 2,000 years ago to keep the annoying Scots out of England. It ran right across England from coast to coast, or about 120 km. It runs from close to the modern border in the west to more than 100 km south of the Scottish border in the east. It was between 3 and 6 metres high and included ditches, forts and gates. Today there are long remnants but much of it has been pillaged and used in other buildings and fences, etc.
We drove to a spot called Walltown Crags, where Hadrians Wall runs over high land with a great view in all directions.
